2024 Dynasty Fantasy Football- A View to a Pick (1.06)

The much anticipated NFL Draft is now a thing of the past and rookie draft season is in full swing. For most fantasy players, their draft is the best part of the season. If you aren’t prepared though, this enjoyable experience can quickly become overwhelming. There is no truer time than in rookie drafts where many fantasy managers are unfamiliar with a large portion of the rookie pool. A View to a Pick is here to help you by guiding you through a typical 3-round Rookie Draft to see which players they chose, and what some pivot options could be.

So, let’s take a look at A View to a Pick (1.06). Below is the Sleeper Draft Board from our mock draft which will feature Aaron St. Denis, Jeremy Shulman, SC Romero, and Jesse Moeller. The was a superflex, tight-end premium draft.

A View to a Pick Mock Draft

Rookie Pick 1.06

Aaron Selects Rome Odunze Jr, Wide Receiver, Washington.

This pick was an easy choice for me. He is the last of the potentially elite receivers, and with the top three quarterbacks off the board, he was the only player I considered. Pre Draft, Drake Maye would have been in the conversation, but with him landing in New England, I have cooled significantly on him. The only case I could make for drafting another player here over Odunze is if you are quarterback or tight end needy and want to select Drake Maye or Brock Bowers, but in the end, draft for value and trade for need.

Odunze is a real value here as he has arguably as much upside as both Nabers and Harrison jr but comes with the cheapest price tag. He is the reason I value the 1.06 pick much higher than the 1.07 pick, the value cliff hits after Odunze and doesn’t present nearly as much upside.

Superflex Trade Targets

QB- Justin Herbert, Chargers (7,759)

RB- Jahmyr Gibbs, Lions (7,058)

WR- Puka Nacua, Rams (7,049)

TE- Sam Laporta, Lions (7,368)

Superflex Rookie Pivots

QB- Jayden Daniels, Commanders

RB- None

WR- Malik Nabers, Giants

TE- Brock Bowers, Raiders

Rookie Pick 2.06

Aaron Selects Troy Franklin, Wide Receiver, Oregon.

Troy Franklin was once valued in the same range as Rome Odunze for the WR3 on the board but has fallen off a cliff during the pre-draft process as the hype trains for the other receivers have gone to a whole new level. Franklin has become an immense value at this point and getting him here is a steal. After falling to Day Three of the NFL Draft, his slide in rookie drafts was predictable, but his saving grace was a reunion with Oregon teammate Bo Nix in Denver.

I’m not sure there is a better scenario for a rookie wide receiver than to come into a situation on a team with little to no pass-catching talent with his former college quarterback coming in as a rookie as well. Franklin and his situation are quickly becoming my favourite rookie sleeper of the offseason.

Superflex Trade Targets

QB- Will Levis, Titans (3,720)

RB- D’Andre Swift, Bears (3,648)

WR- Stefon Diggs, Bills (3,718)

TE- David Njoku, Browns (3,789)

Superflex Rookie Pivots

QB- Michael Penix Jr, Falcons

RB- Trey Benson, Cardinals

WR- Troy Franklin, Broncos

TE- Ben Sinnott, Commanders

Rookie Pick 3.06

Aaron Selects Ray Davis, Running Back, Kentucky.

Davis isn’t typically the dart throw that I aim for at this point as he was a mediocre talent and landed with an established RB1 ahead of him in Buffalo, but unfortunately for me, Kimani Vidal was already selected and I was forced to pivot.

I don’t have high hopes for this pick and simply chose him as there was a pathway to touches. Many of the receivers and running backs in this range of the draft are buried behind several players, so for Davis to only be behind James Cook on the depth chart gives him a chance to find his way onto the field. Even if he doesn’t beat out Cook for the job, which he likely won’t, he could still operate as the early down hammer for Buffalo which could give him some rookie season value.

Superflex Trade Targets

QB- Gardner Minshew, Raiders (2,451)

RB- Roschon Johnson, Bears (2,462)

WR- Mike Williams (2,423)

TE- Chigoziem Okonkwo (2,456)

Superflex Rookie Pivots

QB- Spencer Rattler, Saints

RB- Kimani Vidal, Chargers

WR- Jermaine Burton, Bengals

TE- Theo Johnson, Giants
