2024 Exclusive Sneak Peek: Jordan Travis, QB Florida State

Welcome to the Exclusive Sneak Peek: Jordan Travis was a 3-star prospect out of The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Florida. Originally Travis committed to Louisville. But after one season he transferred to Florida State

In 2021 he would see action in at least 10 games. The first time in his collegiate career. This was also his 4th season in college. In 2021 he had 62.9% completion for 1,539 yards and 530 rushing yards.

The following year would become his best season. Travis had a 64% completion rate. Plus, he threw for 3,214 yards with 417 yards on the ground.

His final season at Florida State was looking great. Honestly, he was in the Heisman talk. However, he ended up breaking his leg towards the end of the season. The team was not the same after he went down. Before the injury, he threw for 2,756 yards with 63.9% completion.

Scouting Reports

Strengths

  • Playmaking ability. Agile footwork & athleticism allow him to extend the play.
  • Precision. Throws accurately hitting his receivers on the money.
  • Calm & collected. Stands with confidence in the pocket.
  • Strong IQ. Reads the defenses well and goes through his reads effectively.
  • Has the velocity to hit his receiver with a zip on a slant route by getting the ball out quickly.
  • Dual-threat QB. He can escape the pressure with his agility. But also has the speed and precision to throw on the run.

Weaknesses

  • Struggles in accuracy on deep throws. He cannot hit the receiver in the tight windows.
  • Does not lead his receivers with the pass. He waits for them to get open to throw a bullet instead of leading them with the ball where they need to be.
  • Decision making. Plays hero ball at times leading to bad decisions and causing turnovers.

Pre-Draft Analysis

Expected Draft Capital: Round 6

Ideal Landing Spot: Miami Dolphins

Pre-injury Travis was raising his draft stock into a possible day 2 pick. Unfortunately, the injury is going to push him down the draft boards. He has the leadership any team would want in a QB. The Dolphins are Tua’s team. Travis offers solid depth for down the stretch. He is a QB that can learn the offense quickly and effectively.

Travis does not make the same throws that Tua can. But his play style can fit for Miami’s team. He gets the ball out quickly which would benefit the speedy team. Plus, he has weapons at the RB position to check down to if need be. Not to mention, he gets to stay close to home while playing in weather he is familiar with.
