2024 Exclusive Sneak Peek: Keon Coleman

2024 Exclusive Sneak Peek: Keon Coleman, WR Florida St

Welcome to the Exclusive Sneak Peek: Keon Coleman, a Wide Receiver out of Florida State. He is from Opelousas, Louisiana, and was a 4-star recruit out of Opelousas Catholic High School. He was highly recruited in both football and basketball and played in 5 games for the Michigan State basketball team as a freshman.

In 2021, as a freshman, Coleman appeared in 10 games for the Michigan State Spartans, hauling in 7 receptions for 50 receiving yards and 1 touchdown, while splitting his time between the two sports.

He took a step forward as a sophomore in 2022 where he appeared in 12 games for the Spartans and caught 58 passes for 798 yards and 7 touchdowns en route to a huge breakout against tough Big 10 competition.

Coleman would transfer to Florida State after his sophomore year, stating he wanted a fresh start with the Seminoles. He immediately showed excellent chemistry with Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis although that chemistry didn’t lead to an increase in productivity as he regressed to 50 receptions for 658 yards while seeing his touchdown total climb to 11.

  • Has an alpha mentality and elite athleticism.

Weaknesses

  • His run blocking needs work, sometimes lacking technique and effort.
  • Lacks crispness in his routes and needs to improve greatly.

Pre-Draft Analysis

Expected Draft Capital: Mid-to-Late 1st Round

Ideal Landing Spot: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Courtesy fo nflmockdraftdatabase.com

Believe it or not, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have found their quarterback of the future, well short-term future. That leaves them with a first-round pick that could potentially be spent on a wide receiver should they choose to move on from the aging Mike Evans.

Evans is unlikely to return for 2024, and with Chris Godwin battling a seemingly endless string of soft tissue injuries, this could be the ideal landing spot for Coleman to pair with the speedy Trey Palmer.

Baker Mayfield is a gun-slinger and could be exactly what Coleman needs for a perfect storm to a rookie breakout.
