2024 Exclusive Sneak Peek: T’Vondre Sweat, DL, Texas
Welcome to the Exclusive Sneak Peek: T’Vondre Sweat was a 3-star prospect coming out of Huntsville High School in Huntsville, Texas. As a senior, he helped get Huntsville High School to the 5A Division-2 quarterfinals. In February of 2018, he committed to the University of Texas.
He immediately saw some playing time in his freshman season. Although his impact was not truly seen just yet. As a freshman, he only had 2 total pressures with 9 total tackles.
In his sophomore season, Covid year, he did see an uptick in pressures with 11 total. Plus, he found the ball more with 22 total tackles. In his third year, he saw another season with 22 total tackles. However, this year he only had 3 total pressures.
As a redshirt junior Sweat started to make his presence known on the field. He had 22 total pressures with 20 total tackles and 4 pass deflections.
But his senior year would become his best collegiate season. The upside is he continued to improve year over year into a better defender anchoring the defensive line. As a senior, he had 45 total tackles with 5 pass deflections and 2 sacks. In addition, to his 31 total pressures! Oh, and he caught a 2 yard pass for a touchdown.

Scouting Reports
Strengths
- He has a big body in the middle that will cause double teams throughout the game to prevent him from getting to the quarterback. The benefit is it will open up lanes for his teammates to attack.
- Consistently closes running lanes. A natural run-stopper that dominates the middle.
- Uses his hands effectively. Throws his hands up to disrupt passes while being blocked.
Weaknesses
- Big frame that does not explode off the line. Uses more of his brute strength to clog the holes rather than push through blockers.
- Relies on his body to oversize the blocker. No true pass-rushing skills to maneuver around blockers & attack the QB.
- Plays with a high motor, but as the game progresses he begins to lack full game endurance.
Pre-Draft Analysis
Expected Draft Capital: Late Round 2
Ideal Landing Spot: Los Angeles Rams
The Rams lost Aaron Donald. Sweat is not Donald, however, he becomes the anchor to hold down the defensive line. His size would clog up the middle making it hard for any opponent to fully develop a run game. I fully believe the Rams will choose more defensive pieces than offensive pieces in this draft.
By drafting a top interior defensive lineman in the 2nd they can build around that. Draft him plus somebody like Latu or Verse in the first & their defensive line becomes set for years to come. In the NFC West teams need to stop the run against teams like San Francisco & Seattle. Sweat does exactly that.
Post-Draft Analysis
Pick 2.38 to the Tennessee Titans
