Nix started his collegiate career as a member of the Auburn Tigers where he started as a true freshman, appearing in 13 games and racking up a solid 2,542 passing yards and 16 touchdowns.
He totaled similar stat lines in his Sophomore and junior years at Auburn before transferring to Oregon for his Senior year.
Nix exploded in his first season with the Oregon Ducks. In 2022, as a Senior, he threw for 3,593 yards with 29 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. Not to be outdone, he followed that up with the best year of his collegiate career in his final season at Oregon. In 2023 he threw for 4,508 yards with 45 touchdowns and 3 interceptions and solidly improved his NFL Draft stock.

Strengths
- Vision and processing improved markedly in his two years at Oregon.
- Reads and manipulates a defense extremely well to create open passing lanes.
- Thrives in crunch time and excels at running the two-minute drill.
- Solid arm strength with great zip on the ball and excellent precision.
- Rushing ability allows him to extend the play and improvise.
- Not a natural rusher, but he shows a good rushing floor with burst and agility.

- He can struggle to process the game and times and tends to telegraph his reads.
- Typically, a one-read quarterback may struggle to progress through reads.
- He relies heavily on sideline cues and could struggle with audibles at the next level.

Ideal Landing Spot: Pittsburgh Steelers
After two seasons of injuries and mixed results, it’s abundantly clear that Kenny Pickett is not the answer in Pittsburgh. The Steelers are drafting in the early ’20s and are unlikely to reach on Nix with their first-round pick, but it’s possible they could select him with the 52nd pick overall.
After a wild-card loss to the Buffalo Bills, it’s uncertain who will be the coach or quarterback for the Steelers in 2024, but if they choose to reset the roster, Nix could be the perfect project for a young team.
Nix could take some time to develop and needs to be coached to learn to process the game at a higher efficiency level, but there is endless potential here in the second round.
