Rookie Profile: Caleb Williams, Quarterback, Chicago Bears
Welcome to the Rookie Profile: Caleb Williams, Quarterback from USC.
Measurables
Draft Capital & Landing Spot
Draft Capital- Round 1 Pick 1
- Williams was the first overall pick and is considered the best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck. This lofty investment is going to ensure he starts from Day 1 and gets every opportunity to succeed. The Bears have seemingly doubled and tripled down this offseason by surrounding him with weapons. They brought in both veteran Keenan Allen via free agency and rookie Rome Odunze through the draft. There are no sure things in football and quarterback is the toughest position to evaluate, but if any one player were given the perfect storm to succeed, it’s Caleb Williams.
Landing Spot- Chicago Bears
- It seems like only a few years ago the Chicago Bears were a nightmare landing spot for first-rounder Justin Fields. He was forced to sit behind aging Andy Dalton and when he did get his chance to be the Bear’s starter he had little to no offensive weapons. It’s a new day in Chicago and it appears the Bears have learned from their mistakes. This time they are going to provide Williams with every opportunity to thrive.

Fantasy Impact
Williams is the slam dunk 1.01 in superflex rookie drafts and should be viewed as such regardless of positional need. He is currently going off the board as QB13 in Fantasy Pros ECR and is being viewed with cautious optimism heading into his rookie season. You are more than welcome to draft Williams as your starting quarterback this season, but if you do it’s best to pair him with a consistent veteran later in the draft. For every CJ Stroud who walks in and is a stud as a rookie, nine rookie quarterbacks start slow. Williams may have league winnings upside and generational talent, but rookies are still a risky proposition.
