Rookie Profile: Jared Verse, Edge, Los Angeles Rams
Welcome to the Rookie Profile for Jared Verse, a cornerback out of Florida St. He is from Dayton, OH, and was a not recruit out of Central Columbia High School in Berwick, PA.
He started his career in the FCS with Albany where he was a redshirt freshman before getting into game action in the 2020 season where he exploded for 14.5 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss.
After that elite season, he transferred to Florida St for the 2021 season where he put up strong numbers and proved he deserved a larger role for the 2022 season.
In 2022 as a sophomore he appeared in 12 games where he recorded 22 solo tackles, 26 assists, 9 sacks, and 17 tackles for loss. He proved to be a true leader on the defensive side of the ball and a force to be reckoned with.
His final collegiate season in 2023 saw him appear in 13 games where he recorded 23 solo tackles, 18 assists, 9 sacks, and 12.5 tackles for loss before declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft as one of the class’s elite edge rushers.

Draft Capital & Landing Spot
Draft Capital- Round 1 Pick 19
- During the pre-draft process many, including myself had Verse in the conversation for the first defensive player off the board. That turned out to not be the case, but going 19th overall was still impressive for this versatile edge rusher. Verse’s capacity to menace the edge significantly reinforces his infernal speed-to-power bull-rushing technique, driving tackles deep into the pocket. Versatile in his play style, he can excel whether playing up or down, making him a compelling option for any defensive scheme seeking a reliable, high-impact edge presence. His draft capital should allow him to crack the starting lineup as a rookie and that should be the beginning of a lengthy and productive career.
Landing Spot- Los Angeles Rams
- The Los Angeles Rams are a defensive unit that has been depleted severely from their Super Bowl only a few years ago. Players have aged and moved on to other teams or flat-out retired. Replacing future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald is not an enviable task, and while Verse in no way fills that void, he is a nice piece to step in and pick up some of the slack. Verse has loads of talents and could one day become a dominant force much like Donald, but for now, he is a great first step on what is likely to be a soon-rebuilding team.

Fantasy Impact
Verse is a supremely talented edge rusher and with a depleted Rams defense he should easily find his way onto the field for Week 1. He is a sneaky pick to finish the year as Defensive Rookie of the Year and is going to be a force to be reckoned with in IDP leagues.
Even as a rookie, he is a likely candidate to lead the Rams in both sacks and tackles. I expect him to be an IDP stud for many years to come. He should be one of the first players off the board in all IDP rookie drafts.
