Rookie Profile: Xavier Worthy, Wide Receiver, Kansas City Chiefs
Welcome to Rookie Profile: Xavier Worthy, University of Texas junior wide receiver. Worthy hails from Fresno, California, attending Central East High School. He was named to the All-American team in his senior year.
Worthy was a 4-star recruit and initially committed to the University of Michigan before eventually enrolling at Texas. His freshman year was arguably his best, as he hauled in 62 receptions for 962 yards and 12 scores. The Big-12 Freshman of the year followed up his breakout campaign with a solid sophomore season. His junior year saw more volume but he was only able to post 5 touchdowns all season, a career low.
Despite Worthy’s decline in production from his freshman year, he saw more volume and posted the most yardage of his career in 2023. A high school track star, Worthy is also expected to boast the fastest 40 times of any wide receiver in his class. This makes him an immediate deep threat and field stretcher in the NFL, a role he’s proven he can occupy during his time at Texas.

Draft Capital & Landing Spot
Draft Capital- Round 1 Pick 28
- This was the best-case scenario for Worthy. He was one of the large group of second-tier rookie receivers who were seen as potential first-round picks, so for him to secure that draft capital is a massive win for him and his long-term fantasy value.
- The win here has been reflected in his rookie ADP. He was originally viewed as an end-of-round one rookie pick and now goes in the 1.06 to 1.08 range. The days of getting Worthy at a discount are over, you will now have to pay up for him.
Landing Spot- Kansas City Chiefs
- Much like his draft capital, his landing spot was a best-case scenario. Every season the fantasy community dreams about a receiver going to the Chiefs in the first-round and we finally have one. He is going to be a hot commodity this offseason.
- Worthy will not take more than one or two training camp hype videos to find his way into a top-50 redraft pick. Be warned, his cost will only rise as the draft season ramps up. If you want to draft shares off him, you should do so sooner rather than later.

Fantasy Impact
The fantasy impact here is almost impossible to overstate. This is the perfect storm for the fastest receiver at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. His hype train is only going to pick up speed. If you have him in a dynasty, he could be a winning lottery ticket and the next Tyreek Hill, but since no receiver is ever a sure thing, it’s also possible his fantasy value is about to peak.
I haven’t been a huge believer in Worthy, so I will be attempting to cash out once his hype reaches a fever pitch, but if you are in the Worthy camp, strap in and get ready for an exciting ride.
