Dynasty Buy-Low & Sell-High (Week 4)

Welcome to Dynasty Buy-Low & Sell-High (Week 4). This is where we discuss some players who have gained and lost the most value in dynasty leagues over the past week. If you want to see our full Fantasy Football Universe rankings, check out our FFU Rankings Page. Here are the players we are looking to buy low or sell high heading into Week 4 of the 2024 NFL regular season. Some are veterans approaching the age cliff, while others are players that we think are about to break out and skyrocket in value.

Dynasty Buy-Low Targets

Puka Nacua, Rams

The best discount in dynasty is to invest in injured players who become overlooked due to these players not being on the field. In week 3, we saw how ineffective the Rams’ passing attack was without Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua. Nacua had an impressive rookie season with over 100 receptions and 1400 receiving yards. However, according to Keep Trade Cut, he is currently ranked outside the top 10 dynasty wide receivers and is in tier 8 of dynasty rankings. This presents an excellent opportunity to invest in Nacua, as his talent dynasty managers aredismissing because he plays alongside Stafford. That is a generational discount you must take advantage of.

David Njoku, Browns

Njoku is another player who falls into the “out of sight, out of mind” strategy. On Saturday, I traded for him in a league, giving up the ghost of Travis Kelce. I must be frank with you, the tight end position has been abysmal in fantasy football, as we only have two players currently averaging more than 10 PPR points per game. Njoku has as good a chance as any tight end of joining those ranks, as he took off last year and was the TE1 from week 7 on. The good news is Cleveland has the second highest neutral pass rate, and even with the disaster known as DeShaun Watson at quarterback, Njoku will make life easier for everyone else in that offense. He is currently valued as the TE12 in dynasty on Keep Trade Cut, alongside names such as Quentin Johnston, Travis Kelce, and a random future 2nd round pick. Go out and get this difference-making tight end.

Darnell Mooney, Falcons

Let’s take a look at Darnell Mooney, the current WR2 on the Atlanta Falcons. Despite being overshadowed by Kyle Pitts in name cache, Mooney is the one giving you production, unlike Pitts. There’s a significant difference of about 131 spots in dynasty rankings between Darnell Mooney and Drake London, yet Mooney, who previously had an 81 catch, 1,000-yard season in Chicago, is showing signs of returning to that level of performance. As of week 3, Mooney has a yards per route run (YPRR) of 2.06, runs 91% of the routes, and is averaging 11.6 points per game (PPG), compared to Drake London’s 12.8 PPG. Mooney provides similar production to London at a much lower cost. Players like Alec Pierce, Zamir White, Luke Musgrave, and Chase Brown are being discussed in trade talks for Mooney, indicating that he is quite accessible in the dynasty market.

Dynasty Sell-High Options

J.K. Dobbins, Chargers

We are running it back with Dobbins. My concerns are still there for Dobbins, as his lack of pass-catching limits his ceiling in fantasy football. He came back down to earth in week 3, as he failed to score a touchdown which led to him falling short of 10 points on the week. I love the comeback story for Dobbins this season, but I am letting others ride the hype in an offense that will be without Justin Herbert this upcoming week. You can trade away for a player like Cooper Kupp, who gives you a league-breaking upside. That’s how you win in fantasy football.

Isaiah Likely, Ravens

So apparently, people did not learn their lesson with Likely in week 3 and want to suffer again in week 4. Likely does not run enough routes and will not be a focal point for the Ravens moving forward. Yet, he is currently valued as a top-7 dynasty tight end. At those prices, take the money and run, folks!

Sam LaPorta, Lions

Similar to my tight-end fade from week 3 in Travis Kelce, it will be extremely difficult for Sam LaPorta to be a consistent difference-maker for fantasy managers. In week 3, he was out-targeted by Brock Wright, and even in the first two weeks, he only received a total of 8 targets. This makes it difficult for LaPorta to replicate his performance from last season. Despite this, he is still considered a top 25 dynasty asset, with a value similar to names like Rashee Rice, Caleb Williams, and Anthony Richardson.
