Michigan State @ Oregon (6)

Game is Scheduled for Friday, October 4 at 9PM (EST)

Michigan State – Quarterback – Aidan Chiles

Chiles has shown highlights of brilliance this season, but his eight interceptions are a glaring concern heading into this game. The Ducks’ defensive line is catching their stride. They are showing their physicality more each game by bringing pressure and forcing quarterbacks into uncomfortable situations. For Chiles to have success, he will need to stay composed in the pocket, make quick reads, and use his mobility to escape the rush. Avoiding sacks and negative plays will be key to keeping Michigan State in the game preventing Oregon from controlling the tempo.

Adding to the challenge, the Oregon secondary has been lights out, consistently shutting down opposing passing attacks and capitalizing on mistakes. With Chiles’ turnover troubles already evident this season, the Ducks will look to exploit any hesitation or poor decision-making. Oregon’s ball-hawking defensive backs have been getting their hands on the ball capitalizing on quarterback’s mistakes. Chiles must limit risky passes and ensure he does not give away free possessions.

Michigan State – Linebacker – Jordan Turner

Turner, the team leader in run stops with 16, has consistently demonstrated his ability to close in on ball carriers quickly with efficient tackling . With a miss tackle rate of less than 15%, Turner has been a reliable defender for the Spartans. Oregon’s offensive line has continued to improve as the season has progressed. They are providing better protection for their backfield and creating larger running lanes. Turner will need to step up not only in making stops but also by adding pressure in the backfield. His ability to shoot gaps and disrupt plays behind the line of scrimmage could prevent Oregon from breaking off explosive runs. If Turner can generate pressure and force Oregon into longer second- and third-down situations, it will go a long way in containing their offense and reducing their big play potential.

Oregon – Wide Receiver – Tez Johnson

Johnson has established himself as the Ducks’ WR1 through the first four games of the season. He currently leads the team in key statistical categories, with 38 targets, 32 receptions, and a remarkable 84.2% completion rate when targeted. His consistency as a reliable option for the Ducks’ quarterback has been meaningful to the team’s offensive success. Johnson’s 311 receiving yards and four touchdowns highlight his ability to find the end zone. His impressive yards after the catch (192 YAC) show how dangerous he is with the ball in his hands. What makes Johnson’s production even more remarkable is his average depth of target at just 4.2 yards, meaning much of his yardage comes from creating opportunities after the catch.

His agility and vision allow him to turn short passes into large gains, making him a constant threat to opposing defenses. Johnson’s ability to pick up yards after contact and make defenders miss in the open field creates opportunity for Oregon’s offense. This helps keep drives alive and adds pressure on opposing secondaries to make tackles in space. His playmaking abilities not only give the Ducks a reliable go-to receiver but also open up the field for the rest of the offense to thrive.

Oregon – Defensive End – Matayo Uiagalelei

Uiagalelei is currently tied for the team lead with three sacks through four games. However, for Oregon to continue its dominance, Uiagalelei will need to increase his pressure off the edge, having recorded only eight pressures so far. His ability to disrupt the quarterback is essential in creating negative plays and forcing offenses into difficult situations. By getting off the ball quicker and using his combination of strength and athleticism, Uiagalelei can be more effective in breaking down offensive lines to collapse the pocket.

In addition to his pass-rushing skills, Uiagalelei’s seven run stops highlight his ability to close gaps and contain the run game. His presence against the run helps solidify the edge. This can prevent offenses from exploiting the perimeter. Uiagalelei needs to build momentum from his strong run defense and translate that into more consistent pressure on passing downs. This will further disrupt the rhythm of opposing offenses and open up more opportunities for Oregon’s defense. His development in both areas will be meaningful as the Ducks face tougher competition down the stretch.

Ole Miss (12) @ South Carolina

Game is Scheduled for Saturday, October 5 at 3:30PM (EST)

Ole Miss – Quarterback – Jaxson Dart

Dart will be looking to bounce back this week against South Carolina after last weeks loss. Last week, Dart posted his first game with fewer than 300 passing yards and completed less than 70% of his passes. To avoid letting that performance set the tone for the remainder of the season, Dart will need to recalibrate and find his rhythm again. Dart and company are starting their grueling SEC schedule. The South Carolina matchup provides an opportunity for Dart to regain his form. A strong showing against a conference rival can quickly restore his confidence. One of Dart’s key adjustments will be evading pressure more effectively. He cannot afford another game where he is sacked four times. Dart has the mobility to extend plays and avoid negative yardage. He will need to be sharper in his reads and anticipate the rush better. This could prevent South Carolina from disrupting the Ole Miss offense.

Ole Miss – Wide Receiver – Tre Harris

Harris has been a dominating for the Rebels’ offense. He has yet to record a game with fewer than eight receptions this season. Harris has emerged as a reliable and go-to target for his quarterback. His three games with over 170 receiving yards highlight his big-play ability. Additionally, his speed and smooth route running make him a nightmare for opposing secondaries. Harris’ knack for creating separation and his sure hands make him an invaluable asset to the Rebels’ passing attack. This provides Dart with a trusted option in key situations.

Harris has the ability to stretch the field and convert critical downs to keep defenses on their heels. Defenses must account for his presence at all times. As the Rebels prepare to face South Carolina, the Gamecocks’ defense will need to game plan specifically for Harris. He has proven to be a matchup problem for anyone lined up against him. If Harris continues his dominating form, South Carolina’s secondary will face a difficult challenge containing him.

South Carolina – Defensive Back – Jalon Kilgore

Kilgore could have one of the toughest assignments of the season when he faces Ole Miss wide receiver Tre Harris. The matchup between Kilgore and Harris will be crucial to South Carolina’s defensive game plan. Limiting Harris’ impact will be key to slowing down the Rebels’ high-powered offense. Kilgore has held opposing receivers to a 52.9% completion rate when targeted, proving his effectiveness in coverage. His two interceptions and three pass deflections further highlight his ball-hawking skills. This could come into play if he is able to disrupt Harris’ rhythm and force Dart to look elsewhere in the passing game.

If Kilgore is able to make Harris a non-factor, it could spell trouble for Ole Miss and potentially lead to another SEC loss. Harris has been the focal point of the Rebels’ offense, and without his usual production, Ole Miss could struggle to maintain offensive balance. Kilgore’s ability to lock down Harris or limit his big-play potential will force the Rebels to adjust their game plan. They may have to rely more on other weapons, which may not be as effective. For South Carolina, winning this key matchup could be the difference between controlling the game and allowing Ole Miss to dictate the pace. Kilgore’s performance could be pivotal to the outcome.

Iowa @ Ohio State (3)

Game is Scheduled for Saturday, October 5 at 3:30PM (EST)

Iowa – Tight End – Luke Lachey

Lachey will need to step up his performance against Ohio State. The Hawkeyes are still waiting for him to recapture his form from week one. Although he leads the team with 18 targets, Lachey has managed only 12 receptions for less than 100 yards through three games. He does have a completion rate of 66.7% when targeted. Lachey will need to be a more reliable option for the quarterback and generate more yardage after the catch. His six-catch, 63-yard performance in week one showed glimpses of his potential, but consistency has been an issue. As the team’s top target, his ability to get open and secure catches will be crucial. Iowa’s offense relies heavily on its tight ends. If Lachey can find the same rhythm and connection that he had in week one, he could help open up the field for the rest of Iowa’s offense.

Iowa – Running Back – Kaleb Johnson

Johnson brings powerful running style to the Hawkeyes’ offense. He is averaging an impressive 171.25 rushing yards per game, amassing 685 total yards on the ground through four games. What makes him even more dangerous is that 457 of those yards—over 66%—have come after contact. He has demonstrated the ability to keep plays alive even when defenders get their hands on him. Johnson’s physicality and determination to break through tackles are evident in his 30 forced missed tackles. He is currently one of the hardest runners to bring down in the country. This kind of force will be needed as Iowa looks to find ways to move the ball against a stout Ohio State defense.

For Iowa to have any hope of competing with Ohio State, Johnson’s ability to extend plays and gain yards after contact will be essential. His power and vision can create positive yardage on plays where he initially appears stopped. The Hawkeyes will need to lean heavily on Johnson to control the clock, sustain long drives, and keep the Buckeyes’ explosive offense off the field. If Johnson can maintain his punishing running style and continue to force missed tackles, he could give Iowa a fighting chance.

Ohio State – Wide Receiver – Carnell Tate

Tate may be flying under the radar in a loaded Buckeyes receiver room. His production through four games proves that he’s a rising star deserving of more attention. With Emeka Egbuka and Jeremiah Smith grabbing the spotlight, Tate has quietly become one of the most reliable targets for the Buckeyes. He leads the team in completion percentage when targeted, hauling in 82.4% of his targets. His ability to generate yards after the catch is great with 120 yards coming after the catch. Tate’s mix of reliability and physicality makes him a valuable weapon. His presence on the field adds another dimension to an already explosive offense.

Tate’s emerging role is a glimpse into the future of Ohio State’s receiving corps, where he and Jeremiah Smith could become the next dominant duo. As the Buckeyes face tougher defenses, like Iowa’s stout unit, Tate has the potential to be an X-factor. While defenses may focus on stopping the big names like Egbuka and Smith, Tate’s ability to win one-on-one matchups and pick up yards after the catch can break open games. His under-the-radar status will not last long if he continues to make the most of his opportunities.

Ohio State – Defensive End – JT Tuimoloau

Tuimoloau will be tasked with closing running lanes to prevent the Hawkeyes’ running back from breaking off big gains. Currently tied for the team lead with nine run stops, Tuimoloau has demonstrated his ability to read plays and disrupt the run game effectively. His strength and agility allow him to engage blockers and seal gaps. This form will be essential in limiting Iowa’s ground attack. However, to enhance his impact on the game, Tuimoloau will need to take it a step further by generating more pressure in the backfield. He has managed only six pressures through four games. His ability to apply pressure on opposing quarterbacks will be vital for Ohio State’s defensive success. With 2.5 sacks to his name this season, he has shown flashes of his pass-rushing abilities. The Buckeyes will need him to consistently disrupt plays in the backfield to keep Iowa’s offense off-balance. He will need to combine his run-stopping skills with a more aggressive approach in pressuring the quarterback. Tuimoloau can significantly impact the outcome of the game.

Rutgers @ Nebraska

Game Scheduled for Saturday October, 5 at 4PM (EST)

Rutgers – Running Back – Kyle Monangai

Monangai has emerged as a force for the Scarlet Knights. His power and determination on the field are seen with his 589 rushing yards through just four games. He has ability to break tackles and push through defenders. Monangai has 363 yards after contact, underscoring his brute strength and power running style. With 24 forced missed tackles, Monangai presents a challenge for opposing defenses. Nebraska’s front seven will need to formulate a strong game plan to contain him. If Monangai continues to run with the same intensity and effectiveness, he will play a pivotal role in helping Rutgers remain undefeated as they pursue a 5-0 start to the season. His ability to gain tough yards will not only keep drives alive but also allow Rutgers to establish a balanced attack. As the Scarlet Knights prepare for this matchup, Monangai’s physical running style will be needed to wear down the Cornhuskers’ defense. This will create opportunities for the passing game. If he can continue to deliver powerful performances, Monangai will be the driving force behind Rutgers’ success this season.

Nebraska – Wide Receiver – Jahmal Banks

Banks is leading the team with 20 receptions. With those he has 252 yards and two touchdowns this season. He has solid size and brings field stretching ability. Banks has become a reliable target for Nebraska, serving as a safety blanket who consistently moves the chains. His impressive 80% completion rate when targeted highlights his reliable hands and ability to secure passes. While he may not excel in gaining yards after the catch, Banks’ ability to create separation and find space makes him a threat to opposing defenses. Against a tough defense like Rutgers, Banks could prove to be a difference maker if he can find any weaknesses in the secondary. His field-stretching capability could open up opportunities for big plays downfield. allowing If Banks can successfully get behind the Rutgers secondary, it may force the defense to adjust. This can create more room for other offensive weapons. Banks’ performance could very well determine how effectively the Cornhuskers move the ball and score against a disciplined Rutgers defense.

UCLA @ Penn State (7)

Game scheduled Saturday October 5 Noon (EST)

UCLA – Running Back – TJ Harden

Harden had averaged only three yards per carry this season, he has room for improvement. However, his toughness is evident as 95 of his 125 rushing yards have come after contact. To effectively counter Penn State’s ground game and limit their time of possession, Harden must find ways to move the chains consistently. This tactic will keep the offense in rhythm and minimize opportunities for the Nittany Lions. In order to achieve this, Harden needs to build on his ability to break tackles and gain valuable yards after contact. His physical running style will be essential in wearing down the Penn State defense. By doing so, UCLA can control the tempo of the game and limit Penn State’s offensive possessions. Harden’s performance can impact UCLA’s offensive output. If he can find his footing and increase his rushing average, Harden could be instrumental in flipping the script in favor of UCLA against any opponent.

Penn State – Running Back – Kaytron Allen

Allen is at a critical juncture in the season as he looks to hit his stride, especially with only two games surpassing the 100-yard mark through four contests. Although he has been effective with an average of 5.5 yards per carry, a significant portion of his rushing yardage—200 out of 289 yards—has come after contact. This has shown his ability to break tackles and gain extra yards. With the same number of rushing attempts as fellow back Nicholas Singleton, Allen has shown he can be a key contributor. The contrast in their production has raised questions. Singleton’s impressive 7.7 yards per carry and over 400 rushing yards highlight his explosive playmaking ability. On the other hand, Allen’s ability to break tackles sets him apart as a valuable asset in the backfield.

As Penn State prepares to face a vulnerable UCLA defense, both Allen and Singleton will be relied upon to be the driving forces of the offense. Allen’s ability to gain tough yards will be needed in keeping drives alive and wearing down the Bruins’ defense. If he can build on his broken tackle statistics and find ways to gain more consistent yardage, he could complement Singleton’s explosive runs. This will provide a well-rounded ground game that keeps the UCLA defense on its heels. Together, they can create a top one-two punch that not only opens up opportunities in the running game but also helps set up the passing attack.

Texas Tech @ Arizona

Game Scheduled for Saturday October 5, at 11PM (EST)

Texas Tech – Running Back – Tahj Brooks

Brooks has been a driving part of the Red Raiders’ success this season. He serves as a consistent mover of the chains with his powerful running style. Averaging 5.3 yards per carry and racking up 551 rushing yards so far, Brooks has been a workhorse in the backfield. His ability to break tackles—evident with 25 missed tackles forced—along with 333 yards coming after contact, demonstrates his ability to grind out tough yards and extend plays. Each carry builds momentum for Brooks, helping Texas Tech sustain drives and control the clock. He has been a major factor in their 4-1 start to the season.

Heading into a matchup against Arizona, Brooks’ ability to pound the rock through the middle will be needed in keeping the Wildcats’ offense off the field. His blend of power and speed makes him a dual threat in the run game. Plus, he is capable of breaking big plays when given the opportunity. By relying on Brooks to keep the chains moving, Texas Tech can dominate time of possession. Brooks can wear down Arizona’s defense, and open up opportunities for explosive plays.

Arizona – Wide Receiver – Tetairoa McMillan

The Texas Tech defense will face a major test in containing Arizona wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan. He has the ability to take over a game despite his occasional quiet performances. In two games this season, McMillan has been held to six receptions or fewer and under 50 yards, showing that it’s possible to limit his impact if the defensive game plan is executed effectively. However, McMillan’s explosive playmaking ability means that the Red Raiders cannot afford to let their guard down. While Arizona has a 3-1 record, a key to defeating them lies in making McMillan irrelevant in their offensive game script, something that requires focused and disciplined coverage.

The challenge for Texas Tech’s defense will be not just neutralizing McMillan, but also ensuring that their attention on him doesn’t allow other Arizona weapons to thrive. Rotating one or two defenders on McMillan, particularly on deep routes, will help to prevent big plays downfield. It is important that the rest of the defense remains sharp to avoid leaving other Arizona receivers open. By limiting McMillan’s explosive potential while maintaining balance across the secondary, Texas Tech can force Arizona into uncomfortable situations offensively.

Missouri (9) @ Texas A&M (25)

Game Scheduled for Saturday October 5, at Noon (EST)

Missouri – Wide Receiver – Luther Burden

Despite leading Missouri with four receiving touchdowns on the season, wide receiver Luther Burden needs to consistently replicate performances like his standout game last week. In that game, he hauled in six receptions for 76 yards and two touchdowns. Burden’s ability to deliver big plays will be crucial as the Tigers face tougher competition in the bulk of their schedule. His performance against Texas A&M will be especially important as the Aggies have begun to hit their stride, improving both offensively and defensively. Missouri will need Burden to step up and be a reliable playmaker. His ability for creating separation and finding the end zone will be tested against a defense that is gaining confidence. With Texas A&M’s offense also improving, Missouri will likely need to keep pace in a potential shootout. Burden will be key to opening up the passing attack. If he can build on last week’s strong showing, he could help Missouri navigate this challenging stretch of their schedule.

Texas A&M – Quarterback – Marcel Reed

Since taking over the starting quarterback role, Texas A&M’s offense has transformed under Reed’s leadership. Reed has been nearly flawless, throwing for six touchdowns without a single interception. His ability to make smart decisions in the pocket has been complemented by his use of his legs to extend plays and gain valuable yards. Reed’s dual-threat capability has also resulted in rushing touchdowns. This makes him a dynamic force that opposing defenses struggle to contain. With Reed at the helm, Texas A&M’s offense has the potential to guide the team into the college football playoffs, despite their one loss. The upcoming matchup against undefeated Missouri presents a critical test. The Tigers have shown vulnerability in their last two games, both decided by one score. Reed’s leadership and ability to orchestrate the offense could be key in discovering Missouri’s weaknesses. This could positioning Texas A&M to hand them their first loss and keep the Aggies’ playoff hopes alive.
