Rookie Profile: Devin Leary, Quarterback, Baltimore Ravens
Welcome to the Rookie Profile: Devin Leary, a 4-star recruit from Timber Creek High School in Gloucester Township, New Jersey. In high school, Leary was named the New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year as both a junior and senior. He also holds the state record for most passing yards and passing touchdowns.
Leary committed to NC State and played the majority of his college career for the Wolfpack. Leary was a standout as a redshirt sophomore, throwing for 3433 yards and 35 touchdowns to just 5 interceptions. But after a disappointing junior campaign, Leary transferred to Kentucky for his final season of eligibility.
At the University of Kentucky, Leary posted solid stats, but never came close to his achievements in 2021. Leary will hope to catch on to an NFL team and likely start his career as a backup or third-stringer.
Measurables
Draft Capital & Landing Spot
Draft Capital- Round 6, 218th Overall
- The Wildcat QB showed potential as a passer in college, so a flier on his talent and long-term development makes sense for any NFL team. The price is nice for the team, but the tenth QB off the board doesn’t inspire confidence in any draft season.
Landing Spot- Baltimore Ravens
- Leary will never be confused with a running QB. So it’s odd the Ravens selected him to backup Lamar Jackson and Josh Johnson. He shouldn’t see the field beyond the preseason and operate as a practice squad QB for pocket passing opponents.

Fantasy Impact
It’ll be difficult for Leary to work in behind Jackson since his involvement would necessitate a change in the offensive scheme. While the Ravens have the weapons and the history to make it happen, Johnson should be the backup option.
With no prospects to get on the field in the first couple years, Leary is dead to me in dynasty leagues. He’s off my radar and on all of my waiver wires.
