2024 Exclusive Sneak Peek: Adonai Mitchell

2024 Exclusive Sneak Peek: 2024 Exclusive Sneak Peek: Adonai Mitchell, WR Texas

Welcome to the Exclusive Sneak Peek: Adonai Mitchell, a Wide Receiver out of the University of Texas. A three-star recruit out of Cane Ridge High School in Antioch, Tennessee, Mitchell was named the 2019 Tennessean Region 5-6A Athlete of the Year.

Mitchell attended the University of Georgia in 2021 and won back-to-back championships with the Bulldogs. He even caught the go-ahead touchdown to help seal the victory in 2022.

But after a limited role amongst a talented pool of Georgia pass catchers, Mitchell left UGA for Texas in 2023. He was the third overall player and best wide receiver available in the transfer portal, according to 247 Sports. There, he doubled his previous season highs in receptions and yardage while also posting 11 TDs. It was a true breakout for the junior, whose performance compelled him to enter the 2024 NFL Draft.

Strengths

  • A big-bodied receiver who plays bigger than the frame
  • Prototypical Alpha-WR, though could put on a few pounds
  • Excellent ball skills and concentration during contested catches
  • Very good body control within his routes and in the air
  • Versatile enough to work in the screen game and on end around
  • Good separation skills with a natural ability to work openly

Weaknesses

  • Route running is good but should work on developing his tree
  • Could be better against zone and sitting in natural holes
  • Lacks effort at times, especially when plays aren’t headed in his direction
  • Struggles as a run-blocker

Pre-Draft Analysis

Expected Draft Capital: Late 1st Round

Ideal Landing Spot: Buffalo Bills

The Mel Kiper’s of the world all seem to love the fit of Adonai Mitchell with Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. And, to be honest, it makes a ton of sense. Replacing the likely departing Gabe Davis and adding a true complementary receiver to Stefon Diggs on the outside should be too good to pass up for Brandon Beane.

Mitchell has a do-it-all, alpha skill set that will take a little time to develop at the next level. Given the Buffalo Bill’s current situation and future needs, he’s the perfect pick for the present and future state of the offense.

And given what we know about Allen and his ability to the ball to his playmakers, Mitchell should thrive in Buffalo.
