Scouting Reports
Strengths
- His high compete level allows him to play much bigger than he is.
- Has solid receiving chops and a great ability to high-point the ball for a running back.
- He is tough to bring down in space with a great stiff arm.
- He hits his holes quickly and efficiently and follows his blocks well.
Weaknesses
- He doesn’t have breakaway speed or burst.
- Often seeks out contact too much instead of attempting to evade tackles.
- He has a tendency to dance behind the line when there is no obvious rushing lane and struggles to bounce the run to the outside.
- Is a good receiver with great hands but runs a rudimentary route tree without any real refinements.
Pre-Draft Analysis
Expected Draft Capital: Round 6/7
Ideal Landing Spot: Minnesota Vikings
Holani is going to be a late Day 3 pick or possibly even an undrafted free agent. While he does offer some upside, he is likely to be a depth piece. I think Minnesota is a great destination because even a depth piece is likely better than Alexander Mattison.
If Holani can crack the Vikings lineup and get a shot he could be useful for the team, especially when you consider his upside in the receiving game.
