2024 Exclusive Sneak Peek: Jared Wiley, TE TCU
Welcome to the Exclusive Sneak Peek: Jared Wiley, was a 3-star prospect out of Temple High School in Temple, Texas. He originally committed to the Texas Longhorns in 2018. It was not until January 2022 that he would transfer to TCU.
In his freshman year, he had one reception for 15 yards. The following year he saw 9 receptions for 166 yards and one touchdown. In his final year at Texas, his 3rd collegiate season, he had 9 receptions for 67 yards and 2 touchdowns.
After 3 years with the Longhorns, he would transfer out to TCU. He finally started to see more opportunities. In his first season with the Horned Frogs, he had 24 receptions for 245 yards and 4 touchdowns.
The fun did not stop there. In his final collegiate year, he finally had his “breakout” year. In year 5, Wiley had 47 receptions for 520 yards and 8 touchdowns!

Scouting Reports
Strengths
- Good pass protector. Does not get beaten off the snap and knows how to utilize his hands when called to block.
- Ball control. Runs with full control when the ball is in his hands.
- Natural playmaker. Soft hands & good effort to keep the play alive. Fights for the extra yardage.
- Solid awareness. Finds the weak spot in zone coverages efficiently.
- Uses his size to his advantage when going out for the catch. Easily overpowers defenders with his 6’6 frame and strength.
Weaknesses
- He is big but he can get bullied at the line. Against top-edge rushers, he may struggle to hold them back.
- Stiff movement in route running. Does not catch and transition into a runner efficiently.
- Struggles with his hip movement. He uses his size to make the plays but lacks smooth transitions when catching & turning or blocking edge rushers.

Expected Draft Capital: Round 5
Ideal Landing Spot: Houston Texans
The Houston Texans need depth at their TE position. Schultz figures to be their starting TE again, but beyond that the room is slim. Wiley has the size to be an effective TE at the next level. He could use a year or two learning behind a TE like Schultz who has found success at the next level. Plus, his size would allow him to become another red-zone target for Stroud.
Wiley could become an effective red-zone target. But with his blocking skills, he could see the field more often than not. Taking him this late, day 3, means the Texans could build in other positions of need while still acquiring a pass-catching threat.
