The much anticipated NFL Draft is now a thing of the past and rookie draft season is in full swing. For most fantasy players, their draft is the best part of the season. If you aren’t prepared though, this enjoyable experience can quickly become overwhelming. There is no truer time than in rookie drafts where many fantasy managers are unfamiliar with a large portion of the rookie pool. A View to a Pick is here to help you by guiding you through a typical 3-round Rookie Draft to see which players they chose, and what some pivot options could be.
So, let’s take a look at A View to a Pick (1.01). Below is the Sleeper Draft Board from our mock draft which will feature Aaron St. Denis, Jeremy Shulman, SC Romero, and Jesse Moeller. The was a superflex, tight-end premium draft.
Rookie Pick 1.01
Jeremy Selects Caleb Williams, Quarterback, USC
The clear-cut 1.01 for me is Caleb Williams. I understand wanting a piece of Marvin Harrison Jr here, but I’m taking the reality 1.01 QB in superflex leagues who may have been drafted into the best position of all-time for top NFL Draft picks. With DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, and 9th overall selection Rome Odunze at his disposal, Williams should thrive while a decent offensive line and capable defense should ensure he’s more dependent on his play than his volume.
Caleb Williams has the time and situation in place to grow rapidly. If he can’t take advantage, it’s all on him. #1s have busted before, but I’m betting on the talent and weapons in place for Williams. He should dominate and do so as soon as the end of year 1.

Rookie Pick 2.01
Jeremy Selects Keon Coleman, Wide Receiver, Florida State
Talent is plentiful on the board at the 2.01. But, along with talent, I heavily weigh the situation. And few wide receivers landed in a better spot, and are being neglected more, than Keon Coleman. Coleman is by far the most talented wide receiver on the Bills roster post-draft and, while TE Dalton Kincaid looks to be in line to become Josh Allen‘s #1 target, Coleman is set to be at least the #2 from Day 1.
Coleman has the contested catch ability and ad-lib chops to hang in a Josh Allen-led offense. And, if he can develop his skills and find ways to separate, we could be looking at a high-end WR2 in fantasy for years to come. I’ll gladly take the shot on a perennial fantasy producer who I can lock into my lineups in the early 2nd round.
Superflex Trade Targets
QB- Will Levis, Titans (3,720)
RB- Isiah Pacheco, Chiefs (4,116)
WR- Davante Adams, Raiders (3,939)
TE- George Kittle, 49ers (3,909)
Superflex Rookie Pivots
QB- Michael Penix Jr, Falcons
RB- Trey Benson, Cardinals
WR- Troy Franklin, Broncos
TE- None
Rookie Pick 3.01
Jeremy Selects Marshawn Lloyd, Running Back, Florida State
Marshawn Lloyd should not be falling this far in drafts. I get it: his landing spot is undesirable given the presence of Josh Jacobs. And he’s had his fair share of ball security and vision issues as a runner. But Lloyd still landed on a great offense and is set to be next in line, assuming he can beat out teammate AJ Dillon for #2 duties. I’m betting that won’t be much of a challenge.
In the early 3rd, taking a shot on Lloyd means you’ll likely have to wait a year for a meaningful workload. But in an RB-needy landscape, you could do a lot worse than banking on Lloyd. Lloyd has an RB2 upside as early as this season if Jacobs proves ineffective or injury-prone. In years 2 and 3, he could develop into a monster.
Superflex Trade Targets
QB- Aaron Rodgers, Jets (2,899)
RB- Chase Brown, Bengals (2,668)
WR- Khalil Shakir, Bills (2,750)
TE- Chigoziem Okonkwo (2,456)

QB- None
RB- Kimani Vidal, Chargers
WR- Javon Baker, Patriots
TE- Ben Sinnott, Commanders
