Welcome to the Rookie Profile for Troy Franklin, a Wide Receiver from the University of Oregon. He is from Palo Alto, California, and was a 4-star recruit out of Menlo-Atherton High School.
During his Freshman year, Franklin appeared in 14 games for the Ducks and recorded only 18 catches for 209 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns.
His sophomore season of 2022 is when his initial breakout happened. He recorded 61 receptions for 891 yards and 9 touchdowns and demonstrated a high-level ability to be a reliable contributor in the Oregon offense.
In 2023, as a junior, he had his full break out. In one of the more impressive statistical seasons in recent college football, he hauled in 81 receptions for a whopping 1,383 receiving yards and 14 receiving touchdowns.
After this monster season, he would go on to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft where he is part of the most star-studded receiver class in years.

- Troy Franklin was the surprise faller of the 2024 NFL Draft. Once viewed as a potential first-round pick, he plummeted to the fourth round. This is disheartening, to say the least as it shows a lack of belief in his talents among NFL teams.
- This draft day slide has taken Franklin from someone who was once in the discussion for WR3 in this class and slides him down as far as WR10. He goes from the realm of the potential rookie studs to the land of the day three dart throws. His value is not completely dead, but it sure took a hit at the draft.
Landing Spot- Denver Broncos
- While his draft capital certainly crushes his fantasy value, his landing spot breathes a small shot of life back into it. He finds himself reunited on a Denver Broncos squad with his Oregon Ducks teammate and quarterback Bo Nix.
- This Broncos receiving corps is one in turmoil. It has seen Jerry Jeudy move on to Cleveland and the best remaining options are Courtland Sutton, who could be shipped off at any moment, and Marvin Mims who saw mixed results as a rookie. This is certainly a situation that could easily see Franklin producing a useful level for fantasy if things break his way.

If Franklin is on the board in your dynasty rookie draft, he is a solid option, but don’t rely on him. It’s entirely possible that this landing spot and weak depth chart could be the perfect storm for Franklin to be productive, but he could just as easily be a total bust.
While Franklin is far from a sure thing, he is a perfect late-round dart throw. The upside and potential here is elite, and the cost to draft him is currently a late second round pick. This is the exact type of player I am looking to take shots on late in drafts.
