Picture this: tournaments teeming with a dynamic range of participants, anywhere from a modest ten to an electrifying 100,000 players. Now, strap in for an adrenaline-fueled ride as we delve into the heart of a Draft Kings Showdown, where the action never sleeps and the stakes are sky-high with a mere $20 buy-in. But wait, there’s more! This battleground is reserved exclusively for Sunday’s gridiron gladiators, where every move counts and champions rise to claim their glory. With a wallet-busting $50,000 salary cap, contenders must craft their dream team of nine gridiron warriors: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 11 Flex, and 1 DST. Are you ready to seize your moment in the spotlight? Welcome to Draft Kings Stack Hunters (Week 2).
Stack Hunters Strategy
With players growing more familiar with DFS tournaments, they’re actively seeking tactics to gain an advantage. Among the crowd favorites is the “QB-WR stack” strategy, a powerful maneuver that doubles the thrill with quarterback-wide receiver synergy, amplifying points whenever the receiver hits paydirt. Eager to elevate your game? Join me as we explore three tiers of stacks, each offering options at varying budget levels. Brace yourselves for the Draft Kings Stack Hunters (Week 2).
The High-End Play
Jared Goff, DET (12.4 PPG) $6,400
Amon-Ra St. Brown, DET (4.3 PPG) $8,100
The Detroit Lions are one of the more expensive stacks on the board this week and that’s justified. The Buccaneers have typically been a solid defense, but this season they project to be far stronger against the run than they are against the pass. Goff may not have the upside of Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen but he is a good value for low-end QB1 production. Pair him with St. Brown who has every week league-winning potential and they are a sexy option, to say the least. Expect this game to finish with a decent total and the two key cogs in the Lions offense should not go without production. The Lions duo comes at a combined cost of $14,500, despite only putting up a combined 16.7 fantasy points in Week 1. Look for them to light up the scoreboard in this one.
The Mid-Range Play
Brock Purdy, SF (10.3 PPG) $6,100
Deebo Samuel, SF (18.7) $6,800
This stack is slightly cheaper, coming in at a combined cost of $12,900 and last week produced significantly more in a tough matchup with the Jets. Brandon Aiyuk didn’t seem up to game speed on Monday Night Football and it appears as if Christian McCaffrey will miss his second consecutive game, this leaves Deebo Samuel as the most likely weapon at the disposal of Brock Purdy. Look for these two to hook up early and often against the Vikings and rack up a hefty point total. This is easily my favorite stack on the board when you factor in cost, matchup, and projection.
The Low-End Play
Justin Fields, PIT (11.9 PPG) $5,400
George Pickens, PIT (13.5) $5,800
This is maybe the scariest QB/WR stack in history, Zack Wilson stacks excluded. Assuming Fields starts over the injured Russell Wilson he has an ever-present upside with his rushing ability alone. George Pickens also appears to be the only legitimate threat to the Steeler’s pass-catchers. This is a cheap Hail Mary attempt. The combined cost for this duo is only $11,200 and comes with a decent level of upside. This is the stack you roll with if you already used up your budget on studs in the rest of your lineup and are hoping to run into a monster outing. You’re gonna need Fields to rush for 100 yards, and when he does pass, you will need it to be a touchdown pass to Pickens. It’s not out of the realm of possibilities, but it’s certainly not the betting favorite, but there’s a reason it’s this cheap.
