Rookie Profile: George Holani, Running Back, Seattle Seahawks

Welcome to the Rookie Profile: George Holani, a Running Back from Bellflower, CA who attended St John Bosco High School. Johnson was a 4-star recruit and attended Boise St.

Holani kicked off his collegiate career at Boise St in 2019 where, as a freshman, he rushed for 1,014 yards and 7 touchdowns while also contributing 26 receptions for 206 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Over the next two seasons, Holani would see far less action for Boise State, as he would go on to appear in only 4 games in 2020 and 9 games in 2021. As a sophomore in 2020, he rushed for 108 yards and 1 touchdown with 7 receptions for 52 yards and 2 touchdowns. In 2021 as a junior, he improved to 569 rushing yards and 1 touchdown with 14 catches and 169 yards.

In 2022 he would once again see a full workload where he appeared in 13 games as a senior. That season saw him rush for 1,157 yards and 10 touchdowns with 24 receptions for 151 yards and 3 touchdowns. His final season at Boise St occurred as a senior in 2023 where he appeared in only 8 games. His final season saw him accumulate 748 rushing yards and 7 touchdowns with 17 receptions for 199 yards.

Draft Capital & Landing Spot

Draft Capital- Undrafted Free Agent Signing

  • The fact that Boise State running back George Holani went undrafted was not a surprise, the fact that he was signed after the draft as a free agent was.
  • It’s nice for Holani that he found his way onto a roster, but he screamed practice squad player from the start of the pre-draft process. He’s almost dead for fantasy football, but truthfully, he was never alive.

Landing Spot- Seattle Seahawks

  • The Packers would have been a great landing spot a year ago. Aaron Rodgers had departed for The Big Apple and the only thing left was the unproven Jordan Love. Fast forward a year and Love had suddenly proven himself and Pratt is now nothing more than a developmental prospect on this roster and a “break glass in case of emergency” option.

Fantasy Impact

Holani is an undrafted running back on a roster with two talented young running backs. Needless to say, this isn’t a situation that is conducive to fantasy prosecution.

I’m not currently targeting Holani anywhere, he is at best a wait-and-see player, but there aren’t many scenarios in which he gains value anytime soon.
