Rookie Profile: Malik Nabers

Rookie Profile: Malik Nabers, Wide Receiver, New York Giants

This is the Rookie Profile for Malik Nabers, a wide receiver from Louisiana State University.  He is from Youngsville, Louisiana, and was a 4-star recruit out of Southside High School.

As a freshman, Nabers had 28 receptions for 417 yards and four touchdowns. His best performance was in week 9 against Louisiana Monroe where he had 143 yards.

In 2022, Nabers nearly doubled the production of a future NFL wide receiver Kayshon Boutte, proving he was a formidable player. Nabers had 72 receptions, 1,014 yards, and four touchdowns. This was just a glimpse of the great things yet to come.

During Nabers’ final season at LSU in 2023, he had an outstanding performance that earned him a place in the history books. Nabers dominated the field with an impressive record of 89 receptions, 1,569 yards, and 14 touchdowns. This outstanding performance earned him the title of the all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards at LSU.

Nabers, the sixth overall pick in the draft, departs LSU as one of the program’s greatest players and lands in the Big Apple to play for the Giants.

Draft Capital & Landing Spot

Draft Capital- Round 1 Pick 6

  • When an NFL team drafts a wide receiver within the top 10 picks of the NFL Draft, it’s a clear indication that they are considered elite players who can make a significant difference in the game. Nabers, having been drafted with such high prospects and draft capital, is one of the safest dynasty WR options available. As long as he earns targets, his value is secure for the next two seasons.

Landing Spot- New York Giants

  • There are arguments on both sides of the coin when it comes to Malik Nabers joining the Giants. On the positive side, the Giants have one of the weakest wide receiver groups in the NFL, which means Nabers could earn every target he can handle and finish with 130+ of them in his rookie year. However, the downside is that his quarterback, Daniel Jones, is an inefficient quarterback who also rushes and will limit Nabers’ potential ceiling in 2024. If the Giants decide to upgrade the quarterback position and move on from Jones, Nabers could have the potential to be a perennial WR1 in fantasy football.

Fantasy Impact

Malik Nabers possesses all the qualities that one would look for in a potential superstar wide receiver. His attributes have already been factored into his price, as he is projected to be picked between the 1.03 and 1.07 spots in Superflex rookie drafts. Usually, Nabers is drafted after Caleb Willaims, Marvin Harrison Jr., and Jayden Daniels in the 1.04 spot. If you want to pick him, you may need to trade up in the draft.
