Rookie Profile: Tyler Nubin, Safety, New York Giants
Welcome to the Rookie Profile for Tyler Nubin, a safety out of Minnesota. He is from Saint Charles, Illinois, and was a 3-star recruit from St. Charles High School.
Nubin began his five-year NCAA journey as a freshman in 2109 at Minnesota. He appeared in 5 games and totaled 4 solo tackles, 2 assists, and 2 passes defended in his limited playing time.
In 2020 as a sophomore he saw his playing time increase marginally when in 7 games he totalled 30 solo tackles, 11 assists, 0.5 tackles for loss, 1 interception, and 1 forced fumble. A dramatic increase from his freshman stats with only a limited increase in playing time.
That increase in production led to him being a full-time starter for the first time as a junior in 2021. In his first full-time role, he racked up 38 solo tackles, 14 assists, 1 tackle for loss, 1 sack, 3 interceptions, and 2 passes defended. He proved very quickly that he deserved his newfound playing time and was excelling at the position.
He followed his solid junior season up with back-to-back solid seasons as a 4th and 5th-year senior where he totaled at least 34 solo tackles, 18 assists, 1 tackle for loss, 4 interceptions, 3 passes defended, 1 fumble recovered and 1 fumble forced in both seasons. Nubin proved in his time as a starter that he was as solid and reliable as they come.

Draft Capital & Landing Spot
Draft Capital- Round 2 Pick 15
- Tyler Nubin fell to the second round after a long run of cornerbacks went in front of him. Despite falling into the second round, it’s still a sizeable investment into his future and a clear indication that the Giants believe in him and his future.
- Pick 15 of the second round, still puts him as a top-50 draft pick and is more than enough to believe he will receive every opportunity to become the Giant’s cornerback of the future.
Landing Spot- New York Giants
- The Giants appear to be a squad on the rebuild. This team has very quickly aged out and has hit the reset button across both sides of the field. Nubin may not be the most talented of the second-round safeties, but he lands with the least amount of roadblocks in front of him on the pathway to playing time.
- If Nubin flashes any significant skill in the preseason, he is very likely to earn himself a starting safety nod, with very few trustworthy options on this roster.

Fantasy Impact
The Giants are a great landing spot for a rookie safety who is looking to win his way onto the NFL field. There is not much significant talent ahead of him on the depth chart and his opportunities to produce may come early and often.
There is plenty of fantasy potential here in Nubin. He could be a Week 1 producer and has sneaky fantasy value as a second or even third-round IDP rookie pick. If you need a safety on your IDP squad, Nubin could be a low-risk and high-reward option.
