Welcome to the Exclusive Sneak Peek: Jamari Thrash, a Wide Receiver from Louisville. Thrash was a 3-star prospect out of Troup County High School in Lagrange, GA.
Thrash originally committed to Georgia State in January of 2019. He did not have his breakout year until his 4th year. Through 12 games in 2022, he posted 61 receptions, 1,122 yards, and 7 touchdowns. His breakout year it led him to become First-Team All-Sun Belt.
After his breakout, he transferred to Louisville for his fifth collegiate year. In 12 games with the Cardinals, he had a career-high 63 receptions. However, he saw a slight yardage dip with only 855 yards. Plus, he had one less touchdown than the previous year. Thrash still became part of the Second-Team All-ACC in his one year with Louisville.

Scouting Reports
Strengths
- Speed. He accelerates quickly off the line to get behind corners efficiently.
- Excellent ball-tracking skills. Good hand-eye coordination using his hands to grant slight separation from defenders.
- An agile receiver that finds success with fluid route running.
- Efficient in his breaks allowing him to start/stop almost effortlessly.
Weaknesses
- Although he brings a burst of speed he does not gain much separation.
- Does not have that “twitch” to confuse defenders to break away. Relies on his speed too much.
- Lacks the physicality to win the contested catch consistently.
Pre-Draft Analysis
Expected Draft Capital: Round 4-5
Ideal Landing Spot: New England Patriots
Thrash had his ups and downs throughout his career. New England needs a receiver like him. A field stretcher that can burst off the line quickly. They tried this by signing Juju Smith-Schuster last off-season. The once speedy receiver was ineffective. Smith-Schuster only saw 47 targets through 11 games.
The Patriots did have 2023 6th-round receiver Demario Douglas pop off. But he is likely their slot receiver or a returner. Thrash offers upside as a WR2 at best. He will not be the answer for the Patriots. It is a start in building a solid receiving core. Draft him. Plus, bring in a quarterback that can air it out. The Patriots may then find better success in 2024.
