Welcome to Dynasty Buy-Low & Sell-High (Week 6). This is where we discuss some players who have gained and lost the most value in dynasty leagues over the past week. If you want to see our full Fantasy Football Universe rankings, check out our FFU Rankings Page. Here are the players we are looking to buy low or sell high heading into Week 6 of the 2024 NFL regular season. Some are veterans approaching the age cliff, while others are players that we think are about to break out and skyrocket in value.
Dynasty Buy-Low Targets
Tyrone Tracy, Giants
Embed from Getty ImagesSometimes, all a player needs is a chance to show off to the team and the rest of the league just how good of a player they are. Tyrone Tacy got that chance in week 5 and smashed against the Seahawks. 18 carries for 129 yards, accounting for 82% of the rushing opportunities versus my hometown Seahawks. What jumps off the page about Tyrone Tracy is how fluid of a player he is, and pairing that with high-end athleticism (9.78 RAS) creates problems for an NFL defense. As the saying goes, there is no putting back the genie in the bottle. The difference between Singletary and Tracy is that he has a ceiling Singletary cannot compete with. Tracy is currently the only NFL player with a 100% success rate on his rushing attempts, which shows he is much more than an athletic freak. The former wide receiver adds another element to this Giant’s offense, which is desperately looking for playmakers outside of Malike Nabers.
Tyrone Tracy is currently the RB49 on Keep Trade Cut. I would happily pay a future second-in-price to take the shot on Tracy in Dynasty. I believe he is only scratching the surface of his talent.
Joe Mixon, Texans
Embed from Getty ImagesFor contending teams, it’s hard to find a better bang for your buck purchase in dynasty than Joe Mixon. Watching the Texans offense in week 5, it was evident they missed Joe Mixon, as Dare Ogunbowale and Cam Akers are not talented NFL running backs. Mixon is currently the RB8 in both expected PPG and PPG. He has one of the better roles, connected to a C.J. Stroud offense, and is, at a minimum, locked into Houston for the next two seasons. The team has a 2 million dollar out after the 2025 season.
Mixon is the the RB22 on Keep Trade Cut, valued around names such as Stefon Diggs, Xavier Legette, Kyle Pitts, and Khalil Shakir. I would trade all of them for Joe Mixon and insulate your running back room on a contending roster as you push for a championship.
Dontayvion Wicks, Packers
Embed from Getty ImagesMuch like Brian Thomas Jr., who we named as a must-buy last week, Dontayvion Wicks screams massive upside in the Packers offense. He did not hit in week 5, but the process was sound. Wicks led all Packers wide receivers in snaps, and targets and trailed only Jayden Reed in routes run. It was a day of oh so close for Wicks and Jordan Love, where they just missed on a few opportunities. I am returning to the well on Wicks because the community is concerned about Romeo Doubs returning from suspension and Christian Watson from injury in the next few weeks. Creating one of the last buying opportunities at this price. Wicks and Reed are the two best wide receivers on the Packers roster, and it’s only a matter of time for these two players to be the primary targets for Jordan Love moving forward.
Wicks’s value has the bonus of uncertainty suppressing his current value. We are aggressively pursuing the WR43 price tag. Trade names such as Dobbins, Braelon Allen, and Zach Charbonnet, and go get yourself a player whose ceiling is sky-high in the Packers’ offense.
Dynasty Sell-High Options
Travis Etienne, Jaguars
Embed from Getty ImagesWe are running it back with Travis Etienne this week, as Etienne is still considered a top 16 dynasty running back on Keep Trade Cut. My issue is the same as it was last week, the one shimmer of hope for dynasty managers is that Etienne is dealing with a shoulder issue. The bigger problem is Etienne is not breaking tackles in 2024, as he has 1 broken tackle in 53 attempts, putting him near the bottom of the NFL. Tank Bigsby looks like the superior player for Jacksonville and is cutting Etienne’s workload more and more each week.
I would pay up from Travis Etienne into the Jonathon Brooks, George Pickens, and Xavier Worthy tier, or I would trade Travie Etienne for a productive old player such as Chris Godwin, Alvin Kamara, Deebo Samuel, Derrick Henry range of players on a contending team.
Jordan Mason, 49ers
Embed from Getty ImagesThe San Francisco 49ers have been impacted by the absence of Christian McCaffrey, as evidenced by their ongoing struggle to score touchdowns this season. Jordan Mason, while an impressive rusher, is experiencing a decline in his snap share, given that the 49ers find themselves in games where they are having to throw more than we all expected. With Christian McCaffrey’s return still several weeks away, it may be prudent to explore trade options for Mason while he is still perceived as the 49ers’ primary running back.
Jordan Mason is valued inside the top 90 players on Keep Trade Cut. To find a running back needy team, such as one rostering Jonathon Taylor or Christian McCaffrey, and get the best return you can from them. Each week, the window on Mason’s value closes as McCaffrey gets closer to returning.
Kyle Pitts, Falcons
Embed from Getty ImagesThe Kyle Pitts breakout finally happened, why are we selling? Well it took a whopping 58 pass attempts for Pitts to get there, and he was still 4th on the team in targets. Pitts current role has him behind the likes of Drake London, Darnell Mooney, and Ray-Ray McCloud in the passing attack. While the Falcons pass attempts are trending in a positive direction, it’s near impossible for a player to be fantasy relevant when they are not a focal point of the offense. Pitts will have boom-bust games moving forward, which is a problem considering his current dynasty value.
Kyle Pitts is one I have loved in the past, but at this point in time, his production or lack of production does not equal his dynasty price stage. Valued inside the top 100 players in the dynasty, I would happily pivot into T.J. Hockenson and Jake Ferguson, who, when healthy, give us a level of production Kyle Pitts cannot.
