Ole Miss (9) @ LSU (13)

Game is Scheduled for Saturday, October 12 at 7:30PM (EST)

Ole Miss – Defensive End – Suntarine Perkins

Perkins may be called upon to step up again if Princely Umanmielen remains sidelined with a lower body injury. He has already shown his ability to create disruption. Last week against South Carolina, he registered five total pressures and six run stops. His ability to get into the backfield and disrupt plays will be part of the game plan against LSU’s fast-paced offense. With Umanmielen’s absence, Perkins will need to take on a bigger role in applying consistent pressure, forcing LSU to adjust their game plan. In particular, Perkins’ pressures could force LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier into making quicker decisions. This could increase the likelihood of mistakes. A hasty throw or poor read could result in turnovers, which Ole Miss will need to capitalize on to stay competitive. If Perkins can replicate his performance from last week, he could be a key factor in disrupting LSU’s rhythm. This type of performance could give the Ole Miss’ defense the edge it needs to limit big plays and control the game’s tempo.

LSU – Quarterback – Garrett Nussmeier

Nussmeier’s pocket awareness will be critical in this game, as he faces one of the toughest defenses in the country. Ole Miss, with its relentless pass rush, will look to put constant pressure on him. His offensive line will need to perform at their best to give him time to operate. However, even with strong protection, Nussmeier will have to remain aware of collapsing pockets and blitzes coming from all angles. His ability to sense pressure and adjust his positioning in the pocket will be key to avoiding costly sacks and move LSU’s offense down the field. When the pressure inevitably breaks through, Nussmeier will need to make quick, precise decisions to avoid turnovers. Last week, he threw two interceptions against Southern Alabama. Against a defense that thrives on forcing mistakes, Nussmeier cannot afford to repeat those errors. His accuracy and decision-making under duress will be essential, as any turnover could shift momentum in favor of Ole Miss. By staying poised and making smart reads, Nussmeier has a chance to mitigate the pressure and keep LSU’s offense on track.

Florida @ Tennessee (8)

Game is Scheduled for Saturday, October 12 at 7PM (EST)

Florida – Wide Receiver – Elijhah Badger

Badger will need to be the playmaker he is against Tennessee. He has been a reliable target for the Gators. His 72 percent completion when targeted is a testament to his sure hands. Plus, his ability to stretch the field is demonstrated by his impressive average depth of target of 17.4 yards. This shows he can get open deep and force defenses to respect the long ball. By creating separation and winning downfield, Badger can open up the playbook for Florida. This will allow them to mix in more varied play calls and keep the Tennessee defense on its heels. In addition to his deep-threat ability, Badger’s 108 yards after the catch show he is a dangerous playmaker once the ball is in his hands. The combination of his vertical threat and yards after the catch will be critical for keeping Tennessee’s defense off-balance and creating explosive plays.

If Badger can establish himself as a consistent downfield option, he will force Tennessee to adjust its coverage, potentially opening up opportunities for Florida’s running game and underneath routes. His performance will be a key factor for Florida to move the chains and control the tempo of the game.

Tennessee – Quarterback – Nico Iamaleava

Iamaleava has shown impressive poise in the pocket. He moves with grace to buy time for his receivers when the defense closes in. His ability to extend plays and keep his eyes downfield is one of his standout traits. This allows him to capitalize on broken coverages. However, last week against Arkansas, Iamaleava struggled, completing less than 60% of his passes on 10 or more attempts—a career low for him. The mounting pressure over the past two weeks has resulted in seven sacks, after only being taken down once in the first three games. This decline in efficiency points to a need for improvement in his ability to handle increased pressure.

Moving forward, Iamaleava will need to work on getting the ball out quicker. Plus, get his pocket awareness back to how it was earlier this season to avoid more sacks. This will be crucial, especially with a tougher schedule ahead. Last week, Florida’s defense recorded 18 total pressures and eight sacks, signaling the kind of challenges Iamaleava will face if he does not adjust. His ability to recognize blitzes, make faster reads, and improve his accuracy under duress will be key. To stay effective, Iamaleava must sharpen these skills and ensure he is not holding the ball too long, especially with opposing defenses ramping up their intensity.

Ohio State (2) @ Oregon (3)

Game is Scheduled for Saturday, October 12 at 7:30PM (EST)

Ohio State- Wide Receivers – Emeka Egbuka, Jeremiah Smith, Carnell Tate

Ohio State’s wide receiver corps has been a dominant force this season. Freshman, Jeremiah Smith, has stood out as a key target. Smith leads the team with six receiving touchdowns, showcasing his ability to find the end zone with consistency. His reliability is further emphasized by his 79.3 percent completion rate when targeted, making him one of the most dependable receivers on the roster. Smith’s connection with the Buckeyes’ quarterbacks has been a major factor in the team’s offensive success. His ability for creating big plays will continue to be a key part of the offense as the season progresses.

Alongside Smith, Egbuka has also made a significant impact, leading the team with 41 targets. Egbuka has caught 30 passes and accumulated a team-leading 257 yards after the catch. This highlights his ability to turn short passes into big gains. His elusiveness and speed after securing the ball make him a constant threat for opposing defenses. With such a high volume of targets, Egbuka’s role as a playmaker in the Buckeyes’ offense cannot be overstated. His ability to create yards after the catch is a vital component of Ohio State’s high-powered passing game.

Sophomore wide receiver Carnell Tate has quietly emerged as one of the most efficient pass catchers, leading the team in catch percentage for players with more than 10 targets, hauling in 82.4 percent of the passes thrown his way. However, the Buckeyes’ wideouts will be tested against Oregon’s defensive backs. The Ducks’ defensive backs have allowed just 47.8 percentage completion when targeted with 13 pass deflections. They have adapted a physical style of play and shown their ability to get hands on the ball. Ohio State’s receivers will need to be sharp. Oregon’s defense has the ability to disrupt passing lanes and make life difficult for quarterbacks and wideouts alike.

Oregon – Wide Receivers – Tez Johnson, Traeshon Holden, Evan Stewart

Oregon’s wide receiver corps has been a key component of their offensive success this season. The offense has been led by the playmaking of Johnson. He leads the team with 252 yards after the catch. Johnson is a threat every time the ball is in his hands. His ability to turn short catches into significant gains makes him a top playmaker for the Ducks. In a game where Oregon will face a tough Ohio State defense, Johnson’s explosiveness and agility will be vital. His playmaking ability to create big plays in the open field will be needed.

Holden, another key piece of Oregon’s offense, will also need to step up and make plays when given opportunities. While Johnson often creates highlight-reel plays after the catch, Holden’s physicality and ability to push the chains will be just as important. Ohio State’s defense is filled with playmakers and athletes who possess excellent closing speed. Holden will need to fight for every yard and capitalize on every reception to keep drives alive. By helping to sustain offensive momentum, Holden can contribute to wearing down a strong Ohio State defensive unit.

Similarly, Stewart will play a role in complementing Johnson and Holden by using his speed and route-running to create separation. Stewart’s ability to make plays after the catch will be essential. Against a defense that prides itself on its ability to close in on the ball quickly, the trio of Johnson, Holden, and Stewart will need to execute with precision and take advantage of any gaps in coverage. If they can consistently move the chains and generate yards after the catch, Oregon’s offense has the potential to put significant pressure on the Buckeyes’ defense.

Penn State (4) @ USC

Game Scheduled for Saturday October 12 at 3:30PM (EST)

Penn State – Running Back – Kaytron Allen

Allen has the potential to be a difference-maker for Penn State, particularly if Nicholas Singleton remains out due to injury. He has had an up-and-down season, delivering both mediocre and standout performances. His role becomes even more crucial if he is the lead back. Last week against UCLA, Allen averaged just 3.7 yards per carry, a number he’ll need to improve upon to be effective against USC’s defense. However, Allen’s physical running style, coupled with his ability to grind out tough yards, makes him a threat to control the pace. His consistency to move the chains can wear down USC’s defensive front. One of the most promising aspects of Allen’s game this season is his ability to make defenders miss. He has 15 missed tackles forced and 249 yards after contact, which accounts for 67.8% of his total rushing yards.

Allen has shown he is tough to bring down and capable of moving the chains even in tough situations. His ability to gain extra yards after contact will be key in keeping Penn State’s offense on schedule and creating manageable down-and-distance situations. Against a USC defense that has had its ups and downs, Allen’s tough running could be a decisive factor, especially if he can improve his efficiency and maintain drives.

USC – Quarterback – Miller Moss

Moss will need a strong bounce-back performance to keep USC’s playoff hopes alive, especially after recent setbacks. The loss to Michigan might be overlooked as a quality defeat against a tough opponent. However, last week’s loss to Minnesota has done more damage to both USC’s record and Moss’ stock. To give USC a fighting chance at reaching the College Football Playoff, Moss will need to avoid costly mistakes. He has thrown four interceptions over the last three games. His decision-making and ability to protect the ball will be critical moving forward. Particularly with upcoming matchups against top-ranked teams, where any slip-up could further derail USC’s postseason ambitions.

For USC’s offense to succeed, everything begins with Moss and his command of the huddle. His leadership and ability to read the field are key to setting the tempo for the Trojans. Moss has shown flashes of brilliance in finding receivers all over the field, but consistency will be essential. A win against a highly-ranked opponent would give USC a much-needed boost in playoff rankings. Moss has the talent to lead that charge. If he can tighten up his play and avoid turnovers, he can reignite the offense and give USC the firepower they need to make a late-season run toward the playoffs.

Kansas State (18) @ Colorado

Game scheduled Saturday October 12 10:15PM (EST)

Kansas State – Running Back – DJ Giddens

Giddens has been the heartbeat of the Wildcat offense this season. He consistently keeps drives alive with his powerful running style and impressive efficiency. Averaging 7.2 yards per carry, Giddens has proven to be a reliable playmaker every time the ball is in his hands. His ability to break off big runs and consistently move the chains has made him the focal point of Kansas State’s offense. As the Wildcats prepare to face Colorado, Giddens’ productivity will be key to controlling the tempo. What makes Giddens particularly difficult for defenders is his resilience after initial contact. With 23 missed tackles forced, he’s shown that it’s not easy to bring him down. His ability to power through defenders and gain crucial yards is highlighted by his 69.3 percent of yards coming after contact. He has a physical running style that will pose a significant challenge for Colorado’s defense.

The Buffalo will need to tackle with precision to prevent Giddens from grinding out tough yards and extending drives. If he continues his dominant play, Giddens could be the difference-maker in keeping the Wildcats’ offense humming and moving downfield.

Colorado – Quarterback – Shedeur Sanders

Sanders is preparing to face what may be his toughest challenge yet in Kansas State. Despite the upcoming test, Sanders has been playing exceptionally well, with a 70.1 percent completion rate on the season. His accuracy and ability to find open receivers have been key to Colorado’s offensive success. However, Sanders has been sacked 18 times. This could become an issue against a Kansas State defense that has generated 22 total pressures and three sacks over their last two games. For Sanders to thrive, he will need to get the ball out quickly and avoid letting Kansas State’s pass rush disrupt his timing. While Kansas State’s front seven has been effective at applying pressure, their cornerbacks have shown vulnerability. Sanders can exploit them if he manages to release the ball in time.

If he can distribute the ball to his receivers quickly, there is potential for Colorado’s offense to break open some big plays, especially if they take advantage of Kansas State’s struggles in the secondary. Sanders’ ability to make smart decisions under pressure and deliver precise throws will be key in determining whether Colorado can find success against a tough opponent.

South Carolina @ Alabama (7)

Game Scheduled for Saturday October 12 at Noon (EST)

South Carolina – Defensive Back – Jalon Kilgore

Kilgore faces one of his toughest challenges yet as he prepares to line up against Alabama’s standout wide receiver, Ryan Williams. Williams has been one of the most dangerous receivers in the country this season, and Kilgore will need to be at his best to contain him. Fortunately for South Carolina, Kilgore has been lights out in coverage this year. He has allowed just a 52.6 percent completion rate when targeted. Plus, he has given up only 119 yards through the air. His ability to shut down opposing receivers has been a key asset for the Gamecocks’ defense. That consistency will be essential against a talent like Williams. Kilgore’s ball-hawking skills will also play a vital role in this matchup. With 2 interceptions already this season and 3 pass deflections, Kilgore has shown that he can not only cover effectively but also disrupt passing lanes and make game-changing plays. His ability for getting his hands on the ball could be crucial in slowing down Alabama’s offense and limiting Williams’ impact. If Kilgore can maintain his high level of play and continue to make key defensive plays, he could help South Carolina stand firm against one of the nation’s top offensive threats.

South Carolina – Defensive Back – Nick Emmanwori

If Kilgore struggles to contain Alabama’s receivers, the responsibility will likely fall to South Carolina’s safety Emmanwori to step up and make plays. Emmanwori has been a standout in the secondary, especially when targeted in coverage, allowing just a 33 percent completion rate. His ball-hawking skills mirror Kilgore’s, as Emmanwori has also recorded 2 interceptions this season. Plus, his sharp football instincts allow him to read plays and react quickly. This helps position himself to break up passes or come down with key interceptions.

Against Alabama’s high-powered offense, Emmanwori’s ability to be a safety net over the top will be vital. Beyond his coverage skills, Emmanwori’s tackling mechanics make him a strong defender in the open field. He is excellent at closing in on the ball. His speed and awareness are used to shut down plays before they can develop into big gains. Whether it’s supporting Kilgore or stepping in to make a solo play, Emmanwori’s presence will be key.

Alabama – Quarterback – Jalen Milroe

Milroe is in need of a bounce-back performance after a disappointing loss to Vanderbilt. While much of last week’s defeat can be attributed to the defense’s inability to get off the field. Milroe, as the leader of the team, will need to do more to guide Alabama forward. His dual-threat capabilities make him a dangerous player, but in this pivotal game, he must sharpen his decision-making and take command of the offense. Milroe has the tools to spark a rebound, but he needs to show more consistency in the passing game and avoid turnovers. South Carolina presents an even tougher challenge on both sides of the ball compared to Vanderbilt, meaning Milroe could struggle if he fails to find his rhythm early. The Gamecocks have a solid secondary led by Kilgore and Emmanwori, which could make it difficult for Milroe to hit his targets downfield. If Milroe is unable to settle in and establish momentum early, Alabama could be in for another tough outing. For Alabama to regain their footing, Milroe’s leadership and ability to execute under pressure will be key, and he will need to elevate his game to keep Alabama’s playoff hopes alive.

Alabama – Wide Receiver – Ryan Williams

Alabama’s freshman wide receiver has quickly emerged as a standout playmaker for the Crimson Tide. Williams leads the team in targets (26), receptions (19), receiving yards (544), and touchdowns (6). His ability to stretch the field and make explosive plays has made him a key component of Alabama’s passing attack. However, as the team prepares to face South Carolina, Williams will likely encounter a more difficult challenge than he did last week against Vanderbilt. The Gamecocks’ secondary has the capability to contain top receivers.

Williams will need to find ways to create separation and exploit any weaknesses in their coverage. Despite the tough matchup, Williams has demonstrated an ability for finding the end zone, scoring at least once in each game this season. His ability to be a reliable target could prove vital for Alabama’s success against South Carolina’s defense. If Williams can remain effective and continue to produce against a tough secondary, it may provide the spark that the Crimson Tide need to bounce back from their recent loss. With his impressive track record as a freshman, the pressure will be on Williams to step up and deliver in a crucial matchup. He is a game-changer for Alabama in their quest for victory.

Texas (1) @ Oklahoma (18)

Game Scheduled for Saturday October 12 at 3:30PM (EST)

Texas – Quarterback – Quinn Ewers or Arch Manning (Freshman)

Texas quarterbacks Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning have both showcased their talents this season. They have both lead the offense to impressive success. With completion percentages exceeding 70 percent, both players have demonstrated their ability to move the chains and put points on the board. However, each has also shown some inconsistency. Both have thrown two interceptions this season, highlighting areas where they need to improve their decision-making under pressure. Ewers, with his experience as a starter, has displayed slightly better pocket awareness. This allows him to evade defenders and find open receivers more effectively.

On the other hand, Manning, though less experienced, has made a strong impression with his ability to make plays with his feet. This adds another dimension to the Texas offense. His athleticism can help keep defenses guessing. In critical situations he can extend plays or scramble for needed yards. Regardless of who ultimately gets the nod as the starter, the Longhorns seem to be in good hands with either quarterback. Ewers brings seasoned leadership and a more refined understanding of the game. Manning’s raw talent and mobility offer exciting possibilities for Texas’ offensive schemes. With both quarterbacks capable of leading the team effectively, the Longhorns are well-equipped for success this season.

Oklahoma – Quarterback – Michael Hawkins Jr. (Freshman)

Oklahoma freshman quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. is set to face a tough challenge against an aggressive Texas defense. After replacing Jackson Arnold and leading the Sooners to victory over Auburn in Week 5, Hawkins has injected energy into the offense. He has shown ability to manage the game and move the ball efficiently. However, Texas will present a much more difficult test. The Longhorns’ defense is fast, aggressive, and excels at applying pressure, forcing opposing quarterbacks into uncomfortable situations. Hawkins will need to be sharp and avoid costly mistakes. Any missteps against this defense could quickly turn the game against him.

While Hawkins has shown promise, completing 62.2 percent of his passes and throwing just one interception over 37 attempts, he will need to be especially careful against Texas’ ball-hawking secondary. The Longhorns’ ability to generate pressure could disrupt his rhythm and lead to forced throws. An area of the game he cannot afford if Oklahoma wants to stay competitive. Hawkins will need to maintain composure in the face of Texas’ relentless defense and find ways to move the offense without putting the ball in danger. If he can stay poised and minimize errors, Oklahoma may have a chance. The challenge he faces against this Texas defense is significant.
