Waiver Wire (Week 7)

Welcome to Waiver Wire (Week 7). This is where we highlight a few players at each position that we want to add this week. As for ownership percentages we will be using Sleeper. For our full weekly rankings list, head to The FFU Weekly Rankings Page or try our Sit/Start Tool Powered by Fantasy Pros. As far as the quarterbacks are concerned, we will be referring to 1QB leagues. That’s the only format where quarterbacks are readily available, if you’re in a superflex league, it’s doubtful any usable quarterbacks are available.

Drake Maye, Patriots (15% Rostered)

We have been given a gift. The gift was the Patriots benching Drake Maye the first 5 weeks, and allowing him to be available on waivers everywhere. Maye played the Houston Texans in his first NFL start, and passed it with flying colors. What’s often forgotten about Maye is the fact he is a prolific scrambler going back to his days at North Carolina. He managed to rush for almost 40 yards in the game, and that rushing element gives Maye a higher floor than most NFL quarterbacks, as we have seen the Justin Fields and Russell Wilson of the world be very good fantasy quarterbacks without being good passers. The allure for fantasy is that Maye possesses the arm talent to push inside the top 12 quarterbacks for the rest of the year.

Trevor Lawrence, Jaguards (44% Rostered)

It has been an up-and-down season for the golden-haired quarterback in the Sunshine State. The schedule lightens up the next month with games against New England, Green Bay, Philadelphia, Minnesota, and Detroit. Add in an expected head coach firing, which gives this offense a midseason do-over. I know Lawrence has been up and down, but I am intrigued to see the offensive changes that would follow.

Sam Darnold, Vikings (59% Rostered)

Sam Darnold has been everything you could have asked for from a quarterback this season, let alone a journeyman quarterback who has yet to find success until this year, as he has the Minnesota Vikings sitting atop the NFC at 5-0. Darnold is currently the QB15 at 17.3 PPG and gets a juice matchup versus the pass funnel Detroit Lions defense. After the Lions, he plays the Rams, Colts, and Jaguars. I don’t see the Darnold train stopping anytime soon against those defenses.

Justin Fields, PIT (67% Rostered), Caleb Williams, CHI (66% rostered), Kirk Cousins, ATL (68% Rostered), Geno Smith (63% Rostered)

Sean Tucker, Buccaneers (0% Rostered)

Sean Tucker is a name that devy and dynasty managers had extremely high hopes for dating back to his time at Syracuse. While his rookie season was a big disappointment, Tucker was finally given a chance with Rachaad Whiteout, and he crushed his opportunity. He put up 192 yards, 2 touchdowns, 32.70 fantasy points, and finished as the #1 RB for week 6. Tucker can turn this backfield into a three-headed monster.

Ray Davis, BUF (18% Rostered), D’Ernest Johnson, TB (0% rostered), Dameon Pierce, HOU (14% rostered), Kimani Vidal, LAC (16% rostered), Jaylen Wright, MIA (21% rostered), Blake Corum, LAR (22% Rostered)

Ty Chandler, Vikings (25% Rostered)

With the uncertainty surrounding Aaron Jones’s hip injury, Ty Chandler gets a boost in value as the potential starting running back for the undefeated Minnesota Vikings. While the matchup versus the Lions is about as bad as it gets in fantasy, if Jones does indeed miss week 7, Chandler will get the volume to help offset the matchup.

Tyler Allgeier, ATL (40% rostered), Ty Chandler, MIN (25% rostered), Jaylen Warren, ARI (41% rostered), Justice Hill, BAL (43% rostered), Trey Benson, ARI (27% Rostered)

Tyrone Tracy, Giants (55% Rostered)

It was Tracy’s second consecutive week without Singletary, and the fantasy points flowed again. While it was not the best day on the ground, the former wide receiver showed out as a pass catcher. Finishing the day with a 14% Target Share, 107 yards, and 19.70 fantasy points. In Tracy’s two starts, he is the RB16 and RB7. When Singletary returns, Tracy, at a minimum, will have a role in the offense, if not push to take the RB1 job in New York.

Tank Bigsby, JAX (72% rostered), Alexander Mattison, LV (61% rostered), Braelon Allen, NYJ (57% rostered), Raheem Mostert, MIA (71% rostered), Antonio Gibson, NE (71% rostered).

DeMario Douglas, Patriots (14% Rostered)

Drake Maye has given the Patriots offense some juice, and DeMario Douglas has been the biggest beneficiary. Douglas’s peripherals have looked great since week 3. The problem was that Jacoby Brissett could not run a functional offense, and in fantasy, that’s the worst-case scenario. Douglas has put together a 25% Target Share in the past month, highlighted by his week 6 performance, where he was the WR6. With Maye at the helm, we can view Douglas as discount Josh Downs, a player that Drake Maye connected with early and often in college.

Rashod Bateman, BAL (17% rostered), Bub Means, NO (0% rostered), Devaughn Vele, DEN (1% rostered), Jordan Whittington, LAR (24% rostered), Ja’Lynn Polk, NE (21% rostered).

JuJu Smith-Schuster, Chiefs (33% Rostered)

I get it. JuJu is what the kids say washed. The funny thing is that even a diminished player can produce in the right role. Enter the Rashee Rice role in Kansas City, and even our old friend JuJu can right the wave known as having Patrick Mahomes as your quarterback. In week 5, JuJu saw a 24% Target Share in a game that also had Travis Kelce turn back the clock for his best game of the season. With the struggles from rookie Xavier Worthy to step into a bigger role, JuJu can be the easy button in the Chiefs passing attack.

Christian Watson, GB (42% rostered), Xavier Legette, CAR (41% rostered), Jakobi Meyers, LV (44% rostered), Darius Slayton, NYG (53% rostered), Allen Lazard, NYJ (47% rostered).

Josh Downs, Colts (67% Rostered)

Since his return to the lineup in week 3, Josh Downs has yet to have a target share lower than 27% in any game. Now I know there may be some concern with Anthony Richardson as his quarterback moving forward. Still, a player who is the focal point of the passing attack is the one to be least impacted compared to ancillary receivers in the Colts offense. Josh Downs is the WR15 in ppg and outscoring alpha wide receivers such as CeeDee Lamb, Mike Evans, DK Metcalf, and countless others. The ceiling may come down with Richardson but don’t shut the door on Downs.

Tyler Lockett, SEA (65% rostered), Allen Lazard, LAR (53% rostered), Courtland Sutton, DEN (69% rostered), Jakobi Meyers, LV (69% rostered), Romeo Doubs, GB (51% rostered).

Tight Ends

Colby Parkinson, Rams (23% Rostered)

Parkinson is coming off a 13-target game in week 5, and until we get confirmation that either Kupp or Puka will be back, Parkinson could be a potential top-two option in a Matthew Stafford offense.

There are a million tight ends that do nothing for your team. The best bet is to stream a tight end in a high-scoring game and hope they can catch a touchdown.

Zach Ertz, Commanders (35% Rostered)

Ertz is not a sexy pick, but does it matter as long as he scores fantasy points? In week 6, he set a season-high with 68 receiving yards and is pushing a 20% Target Share in the Commanders’ offense. I’ll tell you this way: Don’t you want the tight end in the Jayden Daniels offense?

Taysom Hill, NO (25% rostered), Tyler Conklin, NYJ (29% rostered), Hunter Henry, NE (25% rostered).

Shallow Leagues (51-75% Rostered)

Cole Kmet, Bears (72% Rostered)

Cole Kmet split work with Gerald Everett early in the year. In the last month of football, the offense has shifted to trusting Kmet as the TE1 option, and it has paid major dividends. Kmet averages 16 ppg in that span and almost a 20% Target Share. The ascension of Caleb Williams has turned Kmet into a borderline top-6 fantasy TE.

T.J. Hockenson, MIN (72% Rostered), Dalton Schultz, HOU (69% Rostered), David Njoku, CLE (66% Rostered), Pat Freirmuth, PIT (73% Rostered).
